What's happenin' punks?
Big Daddy Thug here, setting the needle to the record and blasting your literary amps off the wall with another issue of THUGLIT.
This is a special issue. Why you ask? Has Christmas come early? Hannuka? Kwaanza? Festivus? The answer is no. Besides, we both know you haven't been good enough to get any extra presents this year.
"Then why?" you ask. "Why are you giving us TEN stories this issue instead of eight?"
Because, we're taking an issue off to re-tool the site, and we know you thug-junkies would just be sitting around, crying and scratching at the crook of your collective elbows without the fix of a couple of extra stories to pass the cold winter nights.
That, and we're givers. Mostly of vicious beatings and that weird rash that all of my ex-girlfriends keep bitching about, but givers nonetheless. Johnny Kneecaps is back with a vengeance this issue, ripping through the stories like an editorial Garden Weasel. That's right...I said it. I went there. Garden Weasel...deal with it!
But before we announce the baker's dozen (less three) of bruise-inducing fiction for your stinking eyes to roll over, we have to thank each and every one of you who sent in your stories. There's a reason why THUGLIT is the only webzine singled out by Best American Mystery Stories three years running (by the way, mad congrats to Craig McDonald, Jordan Harper and Hilary Davidson for said singlings). We're tough. So even if your magnum-opus of the short-story set didn't make the ish, keep those stories coming and someday, YOU might get singled out for something other than in a police line-up.
AND NOW, the ten stories gracing THUGLIT - ISSUE 28 ARE:
Last Night, When We Were Young – by Trey R. Barker
Landlocked – by Neil Grimmett
Fuck Up At The Denny’s – by Rey A. Gonzales
My Son – by Robert McClure
Time To Settle Up – by David Price
Big In Japan – by Christopher Bundy
Old Testament Wisdom – by Frank Bill
Cab Ride – by David Moss
Don’t Mess With Paige – by Sophie Littlefield
Razor – by Derek Nikitas
